  1. You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?  Hmmm … what an interesting question.  I love the idea of the ‘colour of water’.  There is a great South African book with a scene where a little boy asked his mom what colour is God and then his Mom answers “God is the colour of water”.   How beautiful!   I would be the colour of water that we would use for colouring rivers and dragonfly wings.
  2. What was the last gift you gave someone?    I gave my husband a bottle of Gin (with a blood-orange infusion) made by a small distillery in the Cape.   It is a gift that I hope he will share with me  It is just the perfect drink for lazy afternoons.   And I love the fact that blood-orange is the colour of our summer sunsets.
  3. What inspires you?   Children’s energy, stories of hope, beautiful poetry and moments of courage where people spoke up for justice (for the world around them).
  4. A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?  He looks at me and says, “I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives… let me help you!”
  5. Best piece of advices for someone who manages people?     Catch your people doing something right and acknowledge them.  Remember you don’t catch people doing something right by watching the scoreboard. Games are won by those who focus on the field.
